BUYER GUIDE

Cotton Tote Magnetic Snap Closures Need an Opening Trial

Specify cotton tote magnetic snap closures with an opening trial, matched parts and a clear cloth-layer drawing. Ask Gahumi about project feasibility.

Two-tone tote bag with a cream front panel and navy handles and base

A tote closes at the centre, yet a folded scarf can still sit above either side of the opening. The magnetic button has done what the sample shows; the buyer may simply have asked it to do a different job.

Review cotton tote magnetic snap closures as point closures on an actual bag. Send Gahumi the proposed opening and fastening detail for assessment before confirming the specification.

Decide what the closed bag must look like

Describe the intended action. Perhaps the buyer wants the two top edges to meet while the tote is standing beside a desk. Perhaps the concern is the appearance of an otherwise open retail bag. A precise purpose makes those two requests easier to compare.

Does a magnetic snap close the whole tote opening? A centre fastening does not establish that the remaining opening is closed. Photograph both sides with the intended contents in place. If continuous closure is required, compare a separately assessed zip-top arrangement rather than treating the two constructions as equivalent.

Put the attachment behind the button in the brief

Clover’s original tote example places a magnetic snap in a supported lining area. It illustrates why the fastening and surrounding cloth belong in the same detail. Have the maker identify the actual component and fixing proposed for your tote.

Ask for both fastening halves, their orientation, the proposed fixing and the surrounding fabric layers on one detail drawing. Show the distance from the finished opening, handles and any printed area. Do not choose the backing or installation method from the cap’s appearance.

Record any proposed centre snap fabric reinforcement as a separate component. Ask what its reference and placement are, which face covers the fixing and whether the detail changes an existing lining. The lining guide addresses the wider inner construction.

Review opening as well as closing

What should a buyer check before adding a magnetic closure? Use a sample to examine alignment of the two halves, the way the mouth moves, access for the intended contents and the appearance of the surrounding cloth. Agree the review conditions with the supplier.

Try the bag both empty and with representative contents. Note where the edges meet and where gaps remain. Look inside for exposed fixing parts or fabric distortion requiring a technical response. If attachment performance matters to the project, agree that assessment separately from the opening trial.

Keep the reusable cotton or cotton-canvas body in the material record, but verify its composition independently. A requested 100% cotton body does not describe the magnet, backing, thread or every other component. Any care wording must suit the accepted combination.

Keep the accepted detail available for the next order

A magnetic bag closure brief can be short: component references, location drawing, cloth layers and photographs of the accepted open and closed states. List unresolved points rather than approving only the metal colour.

Send that package with the bag dimensions, artwork, quantity and destination. Ask Gahumi whether the detail can be developed and what sampling, costs and timing require confirmation.
