Keep this design split within the full cotton tote order brief. The quantity matrix identifies the units for each version; the wider checklist connects that mix to the specification, sample, packing and delivery decisions.
“A thousand bags, three designs” leaves several unanswered questions. Are all three printed on the same cloth? Does one have artwork on the back? Are the quantities equal, or is one design intended to be the main seller?
A multi-design cotton tote bag order needs a quantity matrix before the factory can assess it properly. The useful total is not just the grand total: it is the quantity attached to each combination of bag, fabric colour, decoration and artwork version.
Define a separate line for each combination
Give every combination a line reference that appears on the quotation and approval records. Include the finished bag specification, body colour, handle or panel colours, decoration method, artwork and print sides. A small design change should be visible rather than buried in a file name.
The matrix below is an illustrative planning example, not a Gahumi minimum order, price or stock offer. The numbers simply show how a proposed total can be split into distinct production requirements.
| Line | Body colour | Artwork and sides | Planned units |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Natural | Design 1, front only | 500 |
| B | Natural | Design 2, front only | 300 |
| C | White | Design 3, front and back | 200 |
The total is 1,000 units, but the supplier still needs to assess each line. Use Gahumi’s MOQ and quantity guide for the wider discussion; the minimums and feasible split for a real enquiry must be confirmed separately.
Ask what can be shared and what changes
Some lines may share a bag construction or material while using different artwork. Others may need different cloth, decoration or packing. Ask the supplier to identify the relevant common and separate work instead of assuming the entire total earns one identical unit price.
Request clarity on sample charges, artwork setup, decoration changes and any other quoted line-specific costs. The appropriate breakdown depends on the production proposal. Do not presume a shared bag shape automatically means every setup can be combined.
For comparable quotations, send every supplier the same matrix and file set. Our cotton tote cost guide explains the broader specification comparison. Here the key is to preserve the exact assortment rather than substituting one undifferentiated quantity.
Link every line to an approved artwork version
Use one artwork reference per relevant line and specify its intended size and position. If two files have similar names, attach a small visual reference to the matrix so reviewers can identify them. Do not make a screen thumbnail the only production file.
A back print, language variation or revised credit line can create another approval requirement even when the front design stays the same. Record which parts are shared and which must be reviewed separately. Ask what sample coverage is appropriate for the proposed variations.
Keep any acceptance of one line within its scope. Approving the natural-colour sample with Design 1 does not automatically approve how Design 3 will look on white cloth or establish approval of its reverse-side print.
Decide how changes and extra units will be allocated
A buyer may revise the split after seeing samples. Update the quantities and request confirmation of the quotation before treating the new mix as accepted. Keeping the same overall total does not mean the revised production brief is commercially unchanged.
Agree any permitted quantity variation by line, together with how it will be recorded. An excess of one design should not silently compensate for a shortage of another. If the order supplies several shops, add store allocations only after the production quantities are clear.
Carry the matrix through packing and receipt
Use the same line references in the packing instructions. Ask whether designs should be separated or packed into a defined assortment. A shop receiving mixed cartons needs exact contents, not a label that says only “cotton bags”.
Reconcile the quoted quantities, approved order and packing list before release. Keep the final matrix version with the purchase order so purchasing and warehouse staff are checking the same design split.
Request a quote for the mix you actually need
Send Gahumi the matrix, bag dimensions, material preferences and artwork files. Include the destination, postcode, required arrival date and packaging requirements. We can discuss the proposed mix and confirm which quantity, sampling and cost arrangements are available for your project.
