The tote accepts the laptop easily at the desk. Put a notebook in front of it, close the main zip and try again: the device now catches at the compartment mouth. Overall bag width has not answered the question the buyer needed to settle.
Develop a cotton canvas tote laptop compartment around an identified device, its normal protective sleeve and the route used to put it away. For a work merchandise range or an onboarding bag, that is more useful than an unsupported “fits most laptops” description.
The pictured Gahumi tote is an exterior reference. A device compartment and its materials require separate project confirmation.
A screen diagonal is not a sleeve measurement
Does a 15-inch laptop label define the compartment size? No. A screen description does not give the complete device’s width, depth and thickness, still less the outside dimensions of a protective sleeve. Identify the actual model and measure the closed combination you intend to carry.
Apple’s UK MacBook Air specifications list display size separately from external dimensions. That distinction is useful for the brief; no model’s measurements should become a universal tote dimension.
For laptop tote sleeve fit, include sleeve corners, zip pulls and any handle that must pass the compartment opening. Record the intended insertion direction and which edge remains accessible. Keep charger and cable storage outside this measurement unless they are deliberately part of the same compartment.
Draw the compartment from the inside
A laptop compartment base position should be visible on the section drawing. Ask whether the compartment meets the bag base, sits above it or uses another arrangement, and how its attachment is proposed. A gap beneath a device is not, by itself, evidence of drop protection.
Distinguish the pocket face, lining, any proposed padding and the customer’s separate sleeve. The ROKA Marylebone description names a dedicated laptop sleeve as a specific feature. Its example does not establish the materials, protective performance or availability of a Gahumi compartment.
Ask for the usable opening and internal dimensions after sewing. Show nearby handle attachments, pockets and any main closure. The inside-pocket guide covers the basic attachment record; a large device also needs its own support and withdrawal route.
Make room for taking the device out
A device removal trial in a packed tote should use the agreed work contents in their usual positions. Open the main closure, take the sleeved device out and replace it without emptying the bag. Record any snagging or rearranging, including a notebook pressing against the compartment face.
What should a buyer check at the laptop compartment opening? Look for enough usable clearance for the complete sleeved device, room to grip it and access that remains practical when the bag is packed. Check the path through the main bag opening as well as the compartment’s own mouth.
Use a representative non-functional shape for an initial fit review if needed, then agree how the finished sample will be checked. Do not force a valuable device into an unapproved compartment or treat a successful fit as an impact test.
A main zip can restrict the available route even when the inner compartment is wide enough. The zip-top review helps identify that separate opening. If the whole bag needs resizing, use the contents-based size comparison rather than changing the compartment alone.
Approve a fit record with a clear boundary
Record the device model, sleeve reference, compartment drawing, sample identity and packed contents. Add the successful insertion direction and any limitations the buyer accepts. A later device or sleeve change needs another fit review before the compatibility wording is reused.
Keep any protection requirement separate. Padding, a closure or a raised compartment does not automatically establish shock resistance, water protection or safety for electronics. Ask what evidence would be appropriate for any specific claim.
For a reusable cotton-canvas bag, confirm the requested body and compartment fabric compositions. A 100% cotton body does not identify foam, lining, sewing thread or fasteners. Choose the added materials for a defined need and keep environmental wording within the evidence available.
Send Gahumi the device-and-sleeve dimensions, inside drawing, intended contents, artwork, quantities and delivery country. Ask whether the compartment can be developed, what sample would demonstrate its fit and which costs and timing need confirmation.
