For a new construction rather than a repeat of an accepted bag, start with the full custom canvas tote ordering checklist. For a reorder, use that same scope to identify which earlier references remain relevant and which requirements need confirmation again.
A repeat order starts with the bag you approved last time. For custom colour-block cotton tote bags, that means more than matching the front view. The fabric, contrasting panels, handle dimensions and logo position all need a clear reference for the next production run.
At Gahumi, we manufacture custom cotton tote bags in our own factory, drawing on 32 years of industry experience. European brands, retailers and gift companies can discuss a repeat order directly with us, using the earlier specification and the requirements for the next order.
Whether you are replenishing a retail range or adapting a two-tone tote for a new campaign, identify what stays the same and what changes before requesting the quotation.
Start with the approved version of your bag
Use the final approved sample and specification as the starting point. An early design drawing may show details that changed during sampling, so check that your reference is the final approved version.
Send the previous order reference, the approved artwork and the final dimensions. Include the panel layout, handle measurements, material specification and packing instructions. If you have photographs, show the inside seams and handle attachments as well as the front and side views.
Check whether your buying team and the factory still have the same reference. Sample retention and access to earlier production information should be confirmed; do not assume that physical samples or the original fabric remain available indefinitely.

Reconfirm the cotton and colour references
For an all-cotton reorder, keep the component requirements explicit. Identify the body fabric, contrasting panels, handles and any lining or reinforcement. State whether 100% cotton is required for the body fabric alone or for all specified textile components, including thread and labels.
Ask whether the fabric used previously is available for the new order and whether the material will come from a different fabric or dye lot. An unchanged colour name or fabric weight does not establish that the new material will look and feel identical. Where colour matching matters, agree the physical reference and the acceptable variation before production.
For a two-tone bag, assess the colours together. A contrast panel should be reviewed beside the body fabric and handles. If you are using a bag that has already been washed or carried extensively as the reference, tell the factory; its current appearance may differ from the original approved sample.
Our two-tone cotton canvas bag guide covers the initial material and design choices. For a reorder, the task is to reconfirm which of those choices still apply.
Record the revised design and artwork
List each change separately, even when the overall style remains familiar. A higher contrast band alters the adjoining panel dimensions. A longer handle changes the carrying position. A new logo can occupy more space and sit closer to a seam or handle attachment.
For sewn colour blocking, mark the position of each join from an agreed finished edge. Include the required handle length or handle drop and label which measurement you mean. Cotton bags with contrast handles also need a separate handle colour reference.
Send the current logo file, its dimensions and its location on the selected panel. If the artwork changes, ask what needs to be reviewed for the selected fabric and decoration method. Approval of an earlier logo does not automatically cover the new artwork.
The two-tone canvas tote product page can help illustrate the panel and handle arrangement when discussing a revised design.
Working directly with Gahumi lets your buying team review the existing construction and proposed changes with the manufacturer. If an alternative fabric is proposed, add its specification to the revised brief and confirm whether it affects the sample or branding review. Record the accepted choice before the order is approved.
Agree what needs a fresh approval
Discuss the approval required for the reorder before production. Depending on the changes, the review may need to cover a new fabric reference, revised artwork or a finished sample. Agree the scope, charges and schedule for your project.
When the material or construction changes, a digital mockup alone cannot show the finished feel or how the bag handles its intended contents. A physical review may be needed to assess the changed details. Any required wash, load or other testing should be agreed separately.
Record the approved changes in a dated specification. Keep it with the final artwork and the agreed sample reference. Make clear which version applies to the new order so an old drawing does not remain the instruction for a revised bag.
Reconfirm the order quantities and delivery details
Reconfirm the quantity for each design or colour combination. A previous total quantity does not tell the factory how to divide a new order across several versions. Minimum order requirements and pricing need to be discussed for the planned quantities, materials and decoration.
Check packing and labels again, too. A repeat retail order may need different barcode information, colour assortments or carton marks. Send the current requirements, particularly if the goods will go to a different warehouse or distribution partner.
Provide the delivery location and the required arrival date in the first enquiry. Sample approval, production and transport are separate parts of the schedule. A successful previous delivery is useful background, but the new order needs its own confirmed timing and delivery terms.
Send a brief that identifies the repeat and the changes
A useful enquiry gives the factory an order reference and a current set of instructions. Include:
- The previous order reference and the final approved specification or sample details.
- Finished dimensions, panel layout, component colours and material requirements.
- A clear list of changes, with the latest logo artwork and placement.
- Estimated quantity for each version and the current packing requirements.
- Delivery location, target arrival date and any inspection or document requirements.
If some details are undecided, name them in the brief. For example, ask for the quotation to distinguish between repeating the approved fabric and considering an alternative. This makes the options easier to discuss against the same starting design.
Questions buyers ask about cotton tote bag reorders
Can I reorder without requesting another sample?
Discuss it with the factory using the previous specification and the details of the new order. Material availability, artwork and construction changes can affect the approval needed. Confirm what will be reviewed before production rather than assuming that the earlier approval covers every new requirement.
Can the colour be guaranteed to match the previous batch exactly?
Exact matching should not be assumed. Agree the physical colour reference and acceptable variation for the new order. Where appearance is critical, discuss how the new fabric and decorated sample will be checked before approval.
Can a repeat order include a new logo or longer handles?
Those changes can be discussed as a revised specification. Send the updated artwork or measurements, identify what remains unchanged and confirm the sample, price and schedule implications before approving the order.
